I may not be on the committee but 4 early picks for a 30-year-old SP who is 8.5MM a year and at his best is a 3rd rotation guy is too much. He didn't even have an ERA under 4.5 last year. He would be lucky to be 3rd in the rotation this year. 2 picks should be good enough and he is no where near 8.5 for 3 more years. He didn't even get 700 points last year and is projected just a bit more than that this year. :veto:
He's 29 years old and his previous era's are 3.37, 3.70, 3.56, 4.07, and 3.70. If you want to trade starting pitchers with that track record for a 2nd and 3rd round pick then we should trade. There's also plenty of precedent for the value here.http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=288434.0http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=281456.0http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=272064.msg1181538#msg1181538
Those were when he was younger he is going to be back end of the rotation for stl and 8.5MM a year is not good value at all for a guy who will be 30 this year and would be massivley lucky if he even got close to a 4.0ERA. But it's my opinion this is a horrid trade even the other guy in the chat knew he was getting screwed in it. Leake has little value at all going forward at that price. Fister who is less money got less and is the better option for the price. And you can't even compare Quintana.
I don't think many in the league would do this trade worded like hey man I'll give you an SP who is about to be 30 who makes 8.5MM the next 3 years and scored 781, 890, 810, and 688 over the last four years for 2 ends and 2 3rds.
