Tigers / Giants Trade (8-6-15)

Tigers and Giants have agreed to the following deal:

Tigers send:
1B Mark Teixeira and $22.5m to cover his 2015 salary (is signed through 2016)
2B Chase Utley and $9.5m to cover his 2015 salary (is signed through 2016)
C Alex Avila and $1m to help cover his 2015 salary (full 2015 salary is $4.15m, FA in 2016)

Giants send:
4th, 5th, and 6th round draft picks
P Adalberto Mejia (advance-A San Jose)
2B Isan Diaz (A Augusta)
P Cameron Varga (A Augusta)

I to agree to trade wanted to add some power hitting and I did in teix and I wanted some vets added to my team in Utley and avilla

I forgot to post my rationale for making this deal:

Avila will be a free agent after this season and I'm not contending in 2015, so it was an easy choice to try to at least get something for him instead of letting him walk for free. There is a chance that Utley could turn it around next season but his age makes me doubt it and I wanted to free up his 2016 salary. With regards to Teixeira, I wouldn't have moved him if I thought I could definitely contend in 2016 but that is looking unlikely and $22.5m is a lot of future salary to clear. Plus, while none of them are absolute blue-chippers, I do think each of the prospects acquired has a strong chance of becoming a big leaguer and the draft picks are certainly helpful.

I have no clue what San Francisco's plan is acquiring old overpriced players but they are sure sticking to it.  Taking into account the salary Detroit is dumping the return is adequate.  :iatp:

Yea I do know what's going on he is a 1 yr rental next year I added him for hr ability cost me nothing this year other than a couple of picks and some single a players

  • Jon: The next concept that I would like to introduce to ProFSL is a Money League for Hockey, the NBA, and the NFL.  I would like to ask if anyone would like to be the commissioner(s) of these brands.  We can provide you with boards.  Based on the difficulties we have found in Moneyball, I would say all money concepts need to use LeagueSafe to collect fees.  I think all brands could be successful.   While I don't think I will participate any of them it is my job to bring the best concepts I can to ProFSL.  I would only ask that if anyone wants to do this that you have the experience and or desire or a combination of both to manage your brands.  Please let us know ⁠⚾-money-ball is a very successful league with a great deal of activity.  It is because of this and @Rob leadership that I truly feel we can build something very special.

As some of you know I am a teacher and there was an incident where a student passed away on the way to school so been off here for a bit helping with that situation.
