:NYM: do this deal because we have a glut at LF and turn Crawford into some younger talent.  We also wanted to free up a little more money for this year's callups.

Angels confirm. Crawford fills a need at LF and at essentially 2.5M per year the contract shouldn't be too horrible even if injuries and age makes it dead money in a few years. The Markakis negotiations were getting increasingly pricey ( :soapbox: nicole!!!!) so this allows the Angels to not have to take on another high priced FA.
