The Rays and I talked it over and have come up with a secondary version of our deal, and hence, here it is.

White Sox send:
Chris Sale         $850,000   ARB   ARB   FA
Nate Jones       $507,500   ARB   ARB   FA
Jake Petricka    $400,000   ARB   ARB   ARB   ARB   ARB   FA
Lucas Harrell     $500,700   ARB   ARB   FA

to the Rays for:

MiLBers: Billy McKinney, Carlos Tocci, Lewis Brinson, Jon Denney, Dom Nunez, Nick Longhi, Franmil Reyes,
and the Rays 5th round pick. **(Which equals 6 players in the top 10 of their farm systems ratings, all A or B rated. The other 1 is rated B, #17 in his system, and then the 5th round pick. But no guarantees!)

And as we know everything is a certainty in baseball, just like Tommy Hanson, Dontrelle Willis, Chuck Knoblauch, Justin Smoak, Joel Zumaya, Scott Kazmir, etc.
What would you have given me for Hanson 4 years ago?! Or for Smoak?

Rays confirm, I'm looking to make this deal to put the best team I can on the field right now.  I requested that Austin Hedges and the other minor leaguers that were coming back to me in the earlier deal be removed in hopes of getting the board to approve this version.

Reluctantly,  :iatp:  mainly because I really hate vetoing trades where obvious collusion doesn't exist. 

I'm not crazy about this one since the White Sox are giving up not only Sale, but also a potential closer in Jones, who also has a cheap contract.  However, the White Sox do acquire the Rays 1st, 2nd, 5th and 9th round picks from this past draft along with Reyes, Brinson, Tocci, and next year's 5th round pick.

I'd still really like to see the Sox get one legitimate piece in return.... still no top 100 prospects and no one above A ball.  Nonetheless, if he's happy with the deal, then I approve.

I also approve although reluctantly, only because I hate to veto especially when it seems no collusion is involved.

Not sure where you are getting your prospect info from but I don't see how 6 of those players are "top ten in their systems all A or B rated"
Baseball America isn't my favorite but to just use them as a reference they only have 2 of those 7 players as top 10 in their respective systems. Even other rankings I have seen don't have most of those guys in top 10, some of them not even in top 20.

However, like Petis said, if you are happy, there is no collusion, and the trade isn't so lopsided now it hurts the league then I don't see why I can't approve.
