Angels approve.

A trade built around a Hedges for Meyer swap has been in the works for quite a while. Despite being near each other in prospect lists I feel Hedges is more valuable due to Meyers shoulder injury trouble last year and the fact that C is a much more premium position, especially in AFB where there are 60 starting catcher slots between 30 teams.

Getting the int. Funds was key to giving up arguably the best catching prospect in baseball. This along with Duenez should help restock an Angels system barren in the low levels. Phegley, despite being utterly horrible last year, might help provide some depth at catcher now that Hedges is gone.

Confirm. If my team has any strength, its pitching so I am willing to move a top pitching prospect, who are riskier than position prospects, for an opportunity at a top flight catcher whose value will hopefully be maximized under the 2015 rule change. Phegley was not hard to lose as I have two catchers on my 40 man, and Phegley isn't someone i expect to break out, and am willing to trade the international funds to get this deal done since I have limited interest in most of those juniors.

You're talking about the scoring change for 2015?  How does that maximize the value of catchers because if anything it dramatically reduces the value of catchers.

Apparently the White Sox owner has decided to drop his team.  I tried to allow him time to answer my question before I vetoed the trade but he ran the clock out before answering.  Since he's dropped his team and failed to respond to the thread, this trade will be vetoed.  Sorry.

Actually, this is a weird situation with the White Sox dropping out of the league this morning.  We don't really have any rules on what happens if a team drops out during or right after a trade they've made so we're going to leave the voting open for another 24 hours.  I think people who ask questions should be able to expect an answer of some sort.

At this point though considering everything I'd have to veto, just my opinion.  As of now this vote would pass based on one veto and four approvals but we will keep voting open for another 24 hours.  I think this is a reasonable compromise.
