Canucks and Panthers try another trade!
« on: July 10, 2013, 08:52:09 PM »
Vancouver Canucks Receive:
RW Jannik Hansen, $2.8m (2015-2016)

Florida Panthers Receive:
Round 1, Pick 19
:VAN: 2014 Round 1 Pick
:VAN: 2014 Round 2 Pick
:VAN: 2015 Round 1 Pick
:VAN: 2015 Round 2 Pick
G Johan Hedberg, $1.8m (2014-2015)
G Rick DiPietro, $1.7m (2013-2014)

I know it looks like a lot, but for one, Gilly's got a good team so his picks will be later in the round, not top-5 picks.

And we keep draftees so the prospect pool is watered down as it is.
...and as per the discussion going on on the main page, if we have blind bidding or other rookie drafts, these picks will be even more watered down!

And as always, prospects are a crap shoot after the top-10 picks, and even within the top 10 there is always uncertainty of if the kid will be good in pro hockey.

It's Hansen and taking 2 useless pieces of poo for 5 picks...who may or may not play in the NHL - and even if they do, there's no guarantee they'll be all that fantasy relevant.

We give up the NHL player (on a good contract) for some young kids that aren't guaranteed anything.
And along the way take 2 goalies who have little faith behind them to play in the NHL. One plain ol sucks and couldn't even cut it in the AHL this year (Ricky D) and the other is a 40yr old backup without an NHL job, who has a lot better and younger competition to get an NHL contract. Both are useless.

Thanks Gilly for the deal.

I needed RW help, Jansen does that....the main thing here was I wanted rid of even more crap contracts that I had...Johan and Ricky are like Ballard and others who provide nothing bad wasted cap...I have a rocking team and I only want guys who are gonna grow into great things or guys who are performing now and will again in years to come....I save $0.7m here while ridding the Goalie Duo of hell!!

Yeah I know about all the picks and the future but I have tons of it and these picks will be garbage when I win the Cup over and over which I will do :)

Thanks Capn for the deal, sorry it took so dam long, Im a bit of a hard ass!!

No doubt I can't approve 3 firsts along with more for an average player.

THose 1st's are gonna be barely anything, its a contraction draft each year, those picks are useless....Look at the two contracts Im getting rid of, he got 3.5m of NOTHING, theres no value in Ricky or Johan....I always respect everyone's decision, just keep in mind I didnt move anything worth while, they are contraction picks!!

Please specifiy what u feel would allow this to pass so when we re-work we can get it correct....Im just trying to know what to do here as I want rid of Johan and Ricky very bad...

Keep in mind, that average player scored more on a average FPTS  wise than Floridas price piece in Skinner....so is Jeff Skinner a average player?

Also these guys scored LESS per game than Hansen

Gabby
Purcell
Krejci
Yakopov
Turris
Lucic
Buflin

I wouldnt call any of those guys average, Im not complaining or anything, just selling my case here, I get a nice RW who would be right now my HIGHEST scoreing RW....and I sell off crap picks to rid of two bad contracts....this doesnt hurt my franchise it only makes me stronger, also dont be scared of my moves that help me win every year, I will let some of u finish 2nd if u want, :) haha

The picks aren't worthless.  Even in this years draft where we bid on prospect-eligible players all year there's lots of good players out there to be had.  I have a list of over 40 players I wouldn't mind having on my team in this draft.  2014 and 2015 drafts are going to be stacked, even if we do a blind bid session at some point in the year; which is not decided yet.

100% horrawful trade,  that is horrible and awful mixed into one horrawful.

if Hansen is now your highest scoring RW, i would suggest you re-think of going for it this year because everyone of my RW's scored more pts per game with the exception of Muller and I didnt win last year and I didnt even win the scoring race.

As Rob pointed out, there are a lot of good players in this years draft to be picked and next years will be that much better even if we did the mid-way draft so the picks are far from worthless.

There are quite a few teams with a  lot of cap space available(especially this year) that would surely take both bad goalie contracts and buy them out under this years cap space (my team included) for a 2nd rounder in next years draft or something similar, hint hint , tampering. ( i wont do it out of principle and it wouldnt be fair to cally.  Just pointing out that neither contract is that bad its not like either player is signed for 5 years @7 mill and just got dumped to the AHL.)

To sum up:
I veto based on this deal will cripple the canucks for several years into the future.  My opinion in viewing the Vancouver roster is they are not a true contending team (sorry gilly, I might be wrong but its my opinion) and should probably be buying assets instead of selling.  I see this trade more as something a team would do at a trade deadline after having a stellar year and has an almost guaranteed birth in the playoffs.  I do not see this as a deal a team should make at this point in the season.

haha the roster isnt done yet, but so far its well on its way to contending this year, but as of right now looking at it you won't see that...don't you fret, I don't settle for anything less than a championship caliber team....I did all the selling on this deal I could...its veto-ed and I will re-work with him or some one else down the road....sorry gents, my vision of a contending team for this year and years to come is different than some, don't take this as a deal of "what where u thinking" sorta thing....cheers boys, thanks for answering quickly so I know what my next step is....BTW....Vancouver is gonna look sweet on the main page as this years champ, :)
