I did... sounded like a bid without the PC included is considered an MLB contract:

All bids are considered closed and final when 48 hours has passed since the last bid.  All bids are for the amount of the total contract.  Bids simply must be in multiples of $100k.  Once a bid is closed, the GM must decide on a contract for the player. When bidding PC, a PC holds a $0.3m value. So if you bid PC + $1m, the total contract is $1.3m. A MLB contract bid will not immediately beat a PC unless the total value is more.

Bidding on prospects is done by Prospect Contract (PC) and if applicable a Signing Bonus (ie. PC + $1m).  Signing bonuses are guaranteed money and will not move with the player if traded.  Signing bonuses can also be split over 2 years.

Didn’t see anything (unless I’m blind still) about a normal MLB bid being able to convert to a Prospect contract once it’s finished up.

Since bidding is done on total contract, GMs have always been allowed to decide, after the bidding is done, whether they want to go with a (P-n/a) and a large signing bonus, or spread out the money over years to absorb the costs.  Many times, GMs simply post a total amount for expediency, with the full intention of opting for a signing bonus if the actually win the bidding.  It usually happens in a protracted bidding scenario like Tatis, where it seems patience is wearing thin.

Sorry for the confusion, but it’s standard practice in this league and no rule has been violated.

I have enough prospects as it is with the guys on the board. Losing one isn’t gonna kill me.
