CI Ortiz, David, $5.5m (2014)   previously paid X-CI Ortiz, David, Cash Exchanged on Contract, $-3m in 2011
CI-OF Jones, Garrett, $0.5m (P-2012)

to philly for

CI Butler, Billy, $9m (2012)  previously paid X-CI Butler, Billy, Cash Exchanged on Contract (2011), $-6m in 2011

the yanks are happy to do this deal to get younger and get rid of Papi who is prolly the only guy in baseball that i really hate lol.
butler is obviously more expensive in the future but at least he will be playing.

Phils confirm.

I wasn't a fan of Butler's contract for next year.  I would not have wanted to resign him after it expired as I believe he is not worth that kind of money.  I actually don't like Papi at all but he has a managable cap number and somehow is still producing.  I'm hoping he stays motivated next year if he gets a new deal with Boston.  Jones I value because I have no depth on my team at all and he can back up two positions.
