The Rockies were the hands down favorites to run away with the league going into the season, you've inherited yourself a great franchise.  Welcome aboard and best of luck to you.

Welcome to the league, looking forward to competing against you.

setting my lineup right now anyway.

I dont think you will need to change your lineup too often, depth is not one of COL's strength  :koolaid:

The Rockies are a veritable all-star team.  There is nothing wrong with their finances that one good deal would not fix, and I'm not even sure that would be necessary.  I would have taken the team myself if I were not completely opposed to the idea of benefitting from someone's else hard work.

Gents,

I can personally see why this is the original PROFSL. The passion each of you has shown day in and day out since the first day of the league is tremendous. I can see this league has a low turnover rate and Colby has a good one in Franchise GM. I have read the dialogue about other owners changing teams after taking over somewhere else and also about other things in this child board. The activity and determination each of you has shown tells me I have joined a great league and the competition will be fierce. Whatever the circumstances surrounding the Rockies are, I can assure you I do not plan on ripping apart the team for awhile until I see what works and dosen't work. I plan on winning in each league I am in. I trade to win now and specs are not as big a part of my arsenal as they may be for others other than to try and get the elite players. That is a little bit about me. Thanks to everyone for the chance.

Let me rephrase...

I have been the Rockies #1 supporter since the off-season. Howe to a helleva job assembling that team. That being said, if I were to take it over, I would not be able to keep the guys I would want to going forward. So not financially unsustainable, but for me it would be.

Reid, welcome to the league, hope you can back up your name...

I see the Rockies in terrific cap shape for the future.

Belt .5
Wright 9
Zimmerman 9
Tulo 5
Pods 7
J-Up 6.5
Lester 6
Teheran .5

That's 43.5m through at least 2013 on the core of that team leaving nearly 50m on re-signing guys like Bruce.  How is that team in bad shape financially?  We should all be in such bad shape!

You are forgetting all the money paid out for next year

Plus

Chris Young(9 mil)
AJ Burnett (10 mil addition)
and substantial raises to Clay Bucholz and Jay Bruce (about 20 mil combined if resigned)

it's a lot less than 50 million going forward...

I'm not saying it is a bad team whatsoever, I'm saying that come post 2013, it is going to be rather different...maybe even come 2012.
