Trade - Blue Jays/Brewers
« on: March 25, 2015, 05:14:06 PM »
:MIL: Receives:
2B Omar Infante ($4M - 2015)
Remainder of my draft picks (Round 16 forward, including :TB: 20th round pick)

for

:TOR2: Receives:
SS Freddy Galvis ($500K - 2016)

:TOR2: make this deal to cut some cap.  Galvis should be a suitable replacement for Infante, I save $3.5M and gain an extra year of control.  I was behind in the draft prep, making it easier to just get rid of the picks.  I have a fairly deep system, so feel I can withstand the loss of the picks.

:MIL: to confirm.

Brewers confirm:

Galvis is a favorite of mine, especially at 25yrs old and probably going to be the almost everyday SS, but from a fantasy standpoint I do feel like he has a certain ceiling and I'm looking to restock a farm system that still has a ton of dead weight in it.  Not to say that late round picks are going to accomplish this, but it's a start.  Playing a numbers game looking for the proverbial diamond or two in the rough; and Infante will provide me some affordable depth for this season's playoff run.

Thanks,
  Frank-Brewers

 :veto:

The picks are worthless considering about 1% of players picked in those rounds play a day in the majors.

ok.  lets stick to facts and leave the opinion ("the picks are worthless") out of it.

piazza -62nd round
keith Hernandez - 42nd round
buehrle - 38th round
Kenny rogers - 39th round
smoltz - 22nd round
sandberg  - 20th round
pettitte - 22nd round
Orlando Hudson - 43rd round
pujols - 13th round
Kenny lofton - 17th round
jeff conine -58th round!
oswalt - 23rd round
Russell martin - 17th round
uggla - 11th round
mike Lowell - 20th round
Eckstein - 19th round
barmes 10th round
mike bordick - UNDRAFTED!
Jason bay - 22nd round
nate mclouth - 25th round
ryan church - 14th round

those are facts.

that's just to name a few.  I could go on.  there were people who questioned why I traded for josh Harrison before last season, basically calling him worthless as well.  I think that turned out ok for me.  that, of course, would be an opinion.    :toth:

thanks,

Even if you consider the picks to be worthless, how is the deal unfair?

:MIL: gets the better player, albeit at a higher salary.  I get salary relief and take a chance on a younger, cheaper player who has never been able to hold down a job.

The picks are worthless, but the players are pretty much even, so not a big deal.

Yeah, picks aside the player swap is decent enough not to warrant veto IMO

  • jmntl82: How did the other team finish?
  • Jwalkerjr88: It was dallas. I think he missed the playoffs that year. Then used the draft picks on the 2021 class. Every pick was the 32nd pick (dont remembee what the other 1st became)
  • Jwalkerjr88: Idk if anyone remembers the 2021 class but it was weak on offense outside or the top 10-15. I dont regret the deal just learned and move on. As long as you have assets, you can mold your build how you want. Picks are usually the most valuable asset because most gms want in on a draft.
  • Jwalkerjr88: The results of that draft class is here [link]
  • Jwalkerjr88: Every 32 overall pick dallas makes in each round came from that trade
    Today at 10:20:54 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: The 2024 and 2025 classes look much more promising than that one lol
    Today at 10:22:06 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: 2021 draft class was my worst class as a NFL Live gm. my 2022 and 2023 were better
    Today at 10:32:52 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: I think it was the worst for most of us. It was a bad class overall. The top was amazing tho
