Contracts Problem
« on: November 04, 2010, 02:33:01 PM »
Ok, so, when I set the league up the NHL was still in Free Agency.  Many players had options not yet exercised.  Some contract values weren't available etc.  Every team has players not signed through this season.  They have no contract value either.  Theyre essentially free players.  I let it be, because it worked for the DME and it would be rectified in this upcoming offseason anyways.

However, does anyone think we should address this now?

We could have a deadline for signing extensions, but what are the values?  Do we release the players to the open market?  I say we get an extensions system established, allow a period for extensions to occur, and then release the unowned players to the free agent market.

Any other ideas?

Well we definately need something in place for extensions. Lets all take a few days and look over the contracts of the best players on here and get a rough idea. Lets try and send a pm to all RC members by monday with what they think the values should be. Then go from there. What do you think?

I like that.  We need to establish scoring to establish player value.  So lets get scoring locked up asap.

Scoring is taken care of, so aren't extensions.  Now lets do this:

All players with no contract values, except for prospects of course, must be signed to an extension by...Jan 1.

On Jan 1st all players not signed to a contract, except prospects, will be released to the free agent pool.

I need votes, I vote yes.

Yes, so anyone in minor league is exempt until the end of the season (July 1).  :iatp:

Their contract starts when they've played in 40 NHL games.  Then they follow an arbitration process while on an entry draft contract, which is a mandated salary based on draft order.

So we would pay them whatever the real-life arbitrator says?

The club also placed right-hander Michael Grove on the 15-day injured list due to lat tightness. In corresponding moves, the club has recalled right-hander J.P. Feyereisen and selected the contract of right-hander Michael Petersen. To make room for Petersen on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred right-hander Joe Kelly to the 60-day injured list.
