Ok, finally no FAs involved, Jays do this to gain a bit of OF depth and a decent looking SP for the Angels in the minors. These talks took many twists/turns, but at the end of the day, the Angels and Jays feel this is the most fair deal and both benefit. While losing a C is not ideal, the Jays in return gain and extra minors SP and 2B. We are also excited to gain the services of Taylor Ward who helps the OF strength

Angels give up OF depth to help a position that?s more of a need in catcher.
I also like the pitching prospects I got back which makes me more comfortable giving up all the years of control of the OFs and the prospects I gave up.
