A) Draft PicksEach team will start the season in possession of 5 draft picks (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th) for the upcoming entry draft. These picks may be traded but only for the current entry draft.
B) How Draft Will Be Conducted- Prior to the NHL entry draft, teams will be required to provide a proxy pick list if they feel they will be unavailable for the draft.
- If a team is not present for the draft/times out, and did not provide a proxy pick, they'll be awarded the next highest ranked player that they can afford.
- Rankings will be in accordance with the real life entry draft
- Entry Draft will have players who are eligible for the real life NHL Entry Draft and any players who are under 40 games played of NHL experience.
- General managers must provide their pick on a 24 hour clock, if they fail to make a pick within this 24 hour clock a player in accordance to the rankings list (corresponding to the actual NHL entry draft) will be picked for the team
C) Draft LotteryStarting in the 2012-13 season, there will be a draft lottery to determine who will get the first overall selection. Their odds based on final ranking will determine who will get each pick. Like the real NHL draft each team could possibly win draft lottery. Only the teams that do not make the playoffs have a chance to win the lottery. The winner of the lottery will get the 1st overall pick in the draft but the draft order will remain as set for rounds 2 to 5 by the final rankings. The odds are as follows:
18th - 26%
17th - 20%
16th - 15%
15th - 11%
14th - 8%
13th - 6%
12th - 5%
11th - 4%
10th - 3%
9th - 2%
8th through 1st - 0%
Each of these odds will be times by 100 and done in a random number generator (random.org) from 1 - 10000. So therefore the 18th place team will have numbers from 1 - 2600 and 17th place will have from 2601 to 4600, and so on until the 9th place team which has numbers 9801-10000.

4) Initial Minor League RostersOnce the fantasy draft has been completed, teams can fill their minor league roster with players that are currently in that teams system. There will be 30 roster spaces for minor league players. These players will be signed to contracts that do not count against the cap until they reach their 40 game limit. Contracts will emulate their real life NHL draft position and current draft market:
