Time's a wastin'...
« on: November 24, 2013, 11:13:52 AM »
Roughly 7 weeks until free agency opens and we still have a lot of work to do including finding owners for two teams.
I realize FB season is currently the rage with BB and hockey going on too but we don't have much time left. Am I the only one who thinks we've wasted a huge amount of time and need to get going?

Formally and for the record I submitted a message to shooter about this issue around the time that the draft was over.  I was told it was not a big deal to worry about.  Maybe two weeks later I submitted a longer message to both Rick and Bob about the ideas of what needed to be done, and brainstorming for the issues.  The first message was sent to Bob Oct 30th and replied to that day; stating he would be back in two weeks to get going on the league.  I've heard no response from the message I sent to both Rick and Bob; from either.

I didn't have the guts to take it to the posts; but now that Rick has I agree, that time is a wastin'....

Notes from Chris' PM of 11/7:
-Rule change proposals:  Including rewording rules to clarify meaning and intent, as well as application.  I know a few rules could use a touch up but we would want to take this very formally in order to do it transparently. I know for sure that the FA rules need to be updated. Many others need to be reworded.
-Contract updates:  adjusting p-n/a would be important to look at. This SHOULD be done by the team owners
-Fielding Positioning changes. Again, team owners SHOULD handle this and report changes the admins.
-Draft order update. Can't be done until after Free Agency because of Type A and B free agents
-Team History and League History updates. I'm not sure who even does this
-Formalize a way to do weekly rankings without becoming excessive work for the writer. Isn't this done independently? Not sure the RC needs to be involved

Personally, I think the priorities are to get new owners for the two teams we have available and get a concrete list of FA together; in that order. The rules can be discussed while we are doing this as a lot of issues there are just updating.
I assume that as Fantrax admin., I'm going to be involved in setting up Free Agency. I'm ready to get started, just need some direction on how it is done

I am not a fan of these posts, they don't accomplish much.  This is not a primary job, people have profession and family, maybe the timing did not fit right.  It is December.

I have confidence that Shooter will handle everything necessary and it will get done correctly.

Sorry to offend but I've got some time on my hands and I'm more than willing to help. I'll keep my mouth shut.

You didn't offend me and I did not mean to offend anyone with my post.  Get with Shooter, split the work, and it is all good.  Offer to help on the spreadsheet, write a draft of rules, make a list of p-n/a. Many of these things can just be done with very little discussion.

My objection the post is it seems like a person that has agreed to spend a lot of personal time is getting called out.  I have also experienced and seen many issues like this and they typically turn into time spent instead of getting the work done.

Please don't shut up, your opinion is valued as well as your time.  I appreciate everyone's effort, it takes a lot of personal time.

I understand it takes a lot of work, which is why I offered services twice to no avail. But I don't want to step on toes and just do things. If shooter is busy delegate tasks. It should be concerning how close to free agency we are. Give me some work to do!
