Oakland sends Stewart back to ATL

The Braves and A's have agree to the following deal:

  receives
CI-OF Jones, Garrett, $0.5m (P-2012)
OF Brantley, Michael, $0.5m (P-n/a)

  receives
CI-MI Stewart, Ian, $0.5m (P-2011)
CI Mora, Melvin, $0.5m (2010)

Stewart is the best player and has the highest potential of the players in this trade.  He is considerably younger than Jones.  Stewart's inability to hit lefties is beginning to worry me.  Mora is simply invovled because he is Stewart's backup. 

I receive Jones, a pretty good OBP guy with some power.  His numbers are comparable to Stewart, his contract gives me an additional year of prospect contract.  I have seen that last year was not a fluke, his numbers are not quite as good, but I think he will get hot in the summer months.  Brantley is an OBP guy, with Sizemore out, he should get a shot soon.

I confirm. Stewart is the key for me, he seems to be healthy and returned to the lineup yesterday. Jones will have his bad days which I have witnessed and I am happy to have Stewart back on board. Although his contract is a yr shorter, it is still a 2011 contract so he will fall under the new prospect extension rule. Brantley is tough to see go, but I have OFs. Mora is doing quite well and could be a decent acquisition for another team (yes he will be on the trade block.)

This is a good rake for the Braves to get Stewart back.  Jones is showing 2009 was a fluke and Brantley's ceiling isn't very high.
