Well I did my best, but I just couldn't see eye to eye with the likes of
Larry Lucchino, Ben Cherrington & Bobby Valentine
& so we agreed late last night that it would be best for all parties involved that we part company.
Ted Lerner contacted me right away & related that he was looking for a bright young mind to come in & run the Nationals organization. I told him that I really don't know anyone who fits the bill, but if he's willing to take a gamble, I'd be happy to give it a go & work with the great Davey Johnson,
to try & build a winning organization.
Hopefully whom ever takes over the Red Sox organization will appreciate the work I put in during my short tenure there. The salary cap is below the threshold & the farm system is a little bit better off with the amateurs draftees that I added.
