Pirates have 3B Pedro Alvarez on the trade block.  All-Star this season, leads the league in homers, and has two more years of club control before Free Agency so he's cheap.

The Pirates have $100 million plus in cap space available to take on large contracts.  It's a rebuilding team so we're not in a position to trade prospects for high salaried players right now however if you have large salaried players that you want to move so you can extend other players or be a buyer in free agency, we have the space to take them if you can make it worth our while.  Thanks.

Adding Jose Veras to my trade block.  He is a free agent that I'm still eligible to sign.  So I can sign and trade him to any team.  His salary for next season in a sign and trade would be $5,918,750.  If anyone is interested in acquiring him I'd be willing to pay for some or all of his salary to get added value in trade.
