Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Archives / Boston Red Sox fire GM
« on: November 22, 2013, 07:50:50 PM »
After a few months of activity in the Armchair Fantasy league, I'm going to have to resign indefinitely from my post as Red Sox GM due to the amount of controversy created during my tenure. I feel the league can be taken a but too seriously. As I told Lando, I'm not trying for any sort of collusion in trades with the Dodgers, nor am I trying to wreck my team (or another team) every time I make a stupid trade.

Thanks to Lando and the rest of the league for a fun couple of months, the amateur draft was a real novelty, and thanks to all trade partners, valid, invalid, or cancelled just before posting. If I find a suitable replacement as GM of the Red Sox, I'll pass him along to you.

Cheers,
Nicholas

Red Sox trade:
Nathan Adcock: $500,450 2014, arb 15-16
Dodgers trade:
JaCoby Jones, PC

Red Sox sell low on Adcock following a down year. We have high hopes for JaCoby Jones, but we acknowledge the risk this prospect presents us. Happy with the deal.

Please assign JaCoby Jones to Pawtucket if the trade passes.

Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Archives / Previous Draft Threads

Where do we find the amateur draft threads from previous years? I've checked in Completed Transactions but it doesn't seem to be there.

Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Invalid Transactions / Red Sox Extension
« on: October 26, 2013, 12:05:59 PM »
Red Sox would like to extend Jacoby Ellsbury for 4 years at 17,612,500 per year. (I know I let him walk via free agency earlier on the offseason, just a bluff at the expense of Scott Boras)

6
Red Sox send:
Jose Fernandez (team control until 2020)
Clay Buchholz ($7MM 2014, $12MM 2015)
Caleb Thielbar ($440K 2014, team control until 2019)
Michael Bowden ($509.5K 2014, team control until 2017)
Brian Duensing ($1.3M 2014, ARB 2015)

Dodgers send:
Kenley Jansen (team control until 2017)
Nathan Eovaldi (team control until 2019)
Joc Pederson PC
Albert Amora PC
Kyle Crick PC
Allen Webster PC
Rubby De La Rosa PC
Brian Johnson PC
Jerry Sands (team control until 2017)

Any interest in providing draft pick compensation for losing valuable free agents, so we can more closely simulate the MLB CBA's qualifying offer" policy? Something like an extension value ranking above a certain percentile... (the team that loses the FA has to pay half of extension value for 1 year)

8
Carl Crawford
I'm not just doing this for the heck of it, Dodgers owner has told me he will claim Crawford.

9
Outright releases:
GCL
Luis Bastardo
John Killen
Justin Erasmus

Greenville:
Lewis Urena
Cleuluis Rondon (#1 best name will be missed)
Aneudis Peralta
Denier Lopez
Roberto Duncan
Alison Suarez
David Sopilika (#5 best name)
Aly Gonzalez
Edwin Osorio
Oscar Melendez
Iago Januario (#2 best name)
Jose Espitia
Sully Bonnelly
Ricardo Betancourt
Mario Alcantara
William Abreu
Salem
Francisco Tavares
Miguel Celestino
Portland
Chase d'Arnaud

Corresponding Roster Moves:
Let Jon Lester, Matt Albers, Brandon Morrow, Rich Hill, Alfredo Aceves become unrestricted FAs
Call up Ryan Pressly, Jose Fernandez, Alex Wilson, Stolmy Pimentel, Daniel Bard, Michael Bowden, Scott Atchison to active roster.
Promote remaining Greenville roster to Pawtucket
Promote Sergio Gomez and Jacob Dahlstrand to Portland

This is the last round of Red Sox roster shakeups. Seriously!

  • Daddy: You can build a dominant team without dominating every trade or even any trade. Doesn't matter what you give up if you get what you see as a key piece.

  • Daddy: Edmonton and LA are the leaders for my picks. LA unfortunately has no GM and by the time one sacs up im going to probably have dealt.

  • jmntl82: How did the other team finish?
  • Jwalkerjr88: It was dallas. I think he missed the playoffs that year. Then used the draft picks on the 2021 class. Every pick was the 32nd pick (dont remembee what the other 1st became)
  • Jwalkerjr88: Idk if anyone remembers the 2021 class but it was weak on offense outside or the top 10-15. I dont regret the deal just learned and move on. As long as you have assets, you can mold your build how you want. Picks are usually the most valuable asset because most gms want in on a draft.
  • Jwalkerjr88: The results of that draft class is here [link]

  • Jwalkerjr88: I think it was the worst for most of us. It was a bad class overall. The top was amazing tho
    Yesterday at 10:42:05 PM
