Franchise GM: Invalid Transactions / Schedule Format
« on: December 01, 2009, 05:10:49 PM »
Schedule Format
The schedule is H2H and will focus on division games with some out-of-division games and even less interleague games.  It will be based on the actual MLB schedule.  For each of the 23 weeks of the regular season, one day's matchups (in which all teams play) will be used.  The commissioner will make sure that the right days are picked so that there is a balance in the schedule.

If possible, some type of multiplier may be used in the points matchup of the scoring to award 0 to 7 wins to make it as real-life as possible.  What I am thinking is simply looking at the ratio of how much one team's points compares to the other.  Fantrax will give out a W and L for each matchup and it would be up to the commissioner to adjust it based on the points ratio.

Where the ratio is the winning team's score over the losing team's score...
1 = 4 wins
1.3 = 5 wins
1.7 = 6 wins
2 = 7 wins

Of course, the other option is to make it seven matches against the same opponent in one week and have Fantrax assign it on a daily basis.  Seven times 23 weeks gives 161 games. The RC may figure out some simple way to add 1 W or 1 L to the final tally.

The additional game could be random for all it matters when it comes to making it like an MLB season.  We could always give one win to the fifteen most active GMs, but that is rather subjective.  We could also give it to the fifteen with the most service in the league as an experience adjustment.  I just think it would be really cool to see W-L records that match up with the MLB schedule.  Plus, with my recommendation on how the schedule is created, you will see Franchise GM play right along with the MLB schedule!

All of this will be added in some way before I hand things over to Jake, but I want a couple opinions first..

Franchise GM: Completed Transactions / Buccos EDR Transfer
« on: December 01, 2009, 01:47:05 PM »
CI Alvarez, Pedro, $1.5m (P-n/a)
P Lincoln, Brad, $0.5m (P-n/a)
P Moskos, Daniel, $0.5m (P-n/a)
P Owens, Rudy, $0.5m (P-n/a)
C Sanchez, Tony, $0.5m (P-n/a) plus signing bonus of $2.5m in 2010

Sanchez's $2.5m bonus and $1m of Alvarez's contract still count toward the cap as per the EDR rules.

683
The RC has approved an EDR transfer, which must be done by 1/1/2010, where teams get to move players that never played an MLB game to their EDR.  As the EDR rules state, $500k of their salary will not count towards the cap.  Also, these players must have been drafted in real life by their MLB teams.  The number of players allowed on the EDR is ten.  Bonuses for such players still count toward the cap.  Please post all EDR transfers in the Transactions forum.  The commissioner will handle the EDR transfers for the teams without GMs.

A player may be traded while tagged as RFA during the off-season period in which free agency has not begun.  The player then must be signed to a contract extension by the new team.

These rules are not in text, but are part of the unsaid rulebook...

1) Draft picks may only be traded for the upcoming entry draft.  For example, 2011 draft picks may not be traded until after the 2010 draft is complete.
2) Franchise GM playoffs format, divisional alignment follows that of MLB

Anything else?

This thread was started by Jake but lost in the forum crash.  Also, Mike had an NL Central public opinion poll.  It's worth combining all of those opinions into this new poll.  Who has made the most improvements this offseason? (You may change vote)
