The Pens will be the first to use the new thread and buyout Steve Moses, $1.0m (2015-2017) to a one-year buyout of $.8m as he signed with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL.

The Pens promote C - Andreas Athanasiou (2012: 4/110 - 0 Games) to an entry-level contract for 3 years at an AAV of $0.2M
To make room, the Pens will place Dwight King, $1.6m (2014-2017) on LTIR

D - Brett Pesce (2013: 3/66 - 0 Games) - 3 years through 2018 with a $0.6m AAV
LW - Shane Prince (2011: 2/61 - 0 Games) - 1 year through 2016 with a $0.6m AAV
To make room the Pens buyout the contract of Taylor Fedun, $0.2m (2015-2017) for the full $0.2m all this year.

The Pens will extend Jordan Staal, $5.0m (2013-2016) to a 3-year $1.5m AAV through 2018.
J. Staal finished as the 141-ranked Center ($0.7m) after an injury-plagued 2014-15 season and is currently ranked 159 this season due to general sucking at the start of the year. We could go with a lower dollar amount, but we would rather lock him in for the 3rd year.
The Pens will also extend Chris Kunitz, $5.5m (2012-2016) to a 3-year $4.8 AAV through 2018.
Kunitz finished as the 23-ranked LW ($4.8m) in 2014-15 and is currently ranked 38 this season.
Total cap savings of $4.2m! Thanks!
