The Stars would like to take care of these contract extensions avoiding free agency for the following players:
Tomas Plekanec, $5.0m (2010-2016) ... 4 years at $6.4m AAV as the 17th ranked C in 2014-15.
Alex Chiasson, $0.9m (2013-2016-EL) ... 2 years at $0.5m AAV as the 108th RW in 2014-15.
Cal Clutterbuck, $3.3m (2013-2016) ... 3 years at $2.5m AAV as the 48th RW each of the past two seasons.
Loui Eriksson, $4.3m (2010-2016) ... 3 years at $4.8m AAV as the 23rd LW in 2015-16.
Ryan Murphy, $2.0m (2013-2016-EL) ... 2 years at $0.7m AAV as the 190th D in 2014-15.
Tobias Enstrom, $2.4m (2013-2016) ... 3 years at $1.5m AAV as the 145th D in 2014-15. We could sign him at $1.3m, but we'll bump him up to get the extra year. We expect him to be back and better next season after offseason surgery to fix what was ailing him in 2015-16.
Jake Gardiner, $2.4m (2013-2016) ... 3 years at $2.9m AAV as the 76th D in 2015-16.
Noah Hanifin, $3.0m (2015-2016-EL) ... 3 years at $2.1m AAV as the 104th D in 2015-16.
Alex Pietrangelo, $6.8m (2012-2016) ... 4 years at $5.5m AAV as the 24th D in 2014-15.
Corey Crawford, $12.0m (2015-2016) ... 5 years at $9.5m AAV as the 5th G in 2015-16. I'm not sure if the new top 10 Goalie rates go into effect now or later in August. But if I need to re-sign Crawford at $11.7m AAV, then so be it. I'm not letting Crawford hit free agency.
I think that covers it for now. I think I got these right, but if I missed a dollar figure and it's close, go ahead and extend them. I've got a few more to consider before free agency hits in August, so the Stars will be back a little later.
