Although Mark Ellis is a capable MI, I wasn't going to be able to re-sign him. Gary Brown is an OF prospect that has not progressed as much as the Giants thought he would and keeps falling further and further down the promotion ladder. Didn't like giving up Tyler Austin, but here again, he is a falling star that is battling injury and has not shown the power he was once thought to possess.
In return I'm getting a serviceable C with a decent contract in John Buck. Jarrod Dyson is an OF who is already in the major leagues and who is starting to play everyday. In addition, his extension will fit my limited budget.
I ask the Trade Council to approve this trade.

San Francisco Giants trade:

Philadelphia Phillies trade:
MI Roman Quinn, $0.5m (P-n/a)
P Justin Nicolino, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI Miles Head, $0.5m (P-n/a)
I agreed to this trade for a variety of reasons. First, I get some solid prospects. Miles Head is a power hitting CI with an ETA of 2014. Roman Quinn, although a few years away, is a speedy MI who is seen as a top of the lineup MLB hitter. Justin Nicolino became a Marlin via the Jose Reyes trade and is projected to be up in 2014.
Second, I get some needed cap relief for 2014. Jesus Montero has fallen from graces with the Mariners. He may be a good MLB player someday, but I'll take my chances with the three rising prospects I'm getting in return. Nate Schierholtz is having a fine year, but he is a platoon player who is again on the trading block. He would certainly help me if I was in the hunt, but my team is not.
Drop CI Pill, Brett, $0.5m (P-n/a) to balance Giants roster
I ask the Trade Council to approve this trade.
