Armchair Fantasy Baseball: Completed Trades / Nationals/Brewers Trade

Washington trades:

Ss Nelfy Abreu

Milwaukee trades:

P Wade Davis $6.5m 2021
P Mitchell Parer
P Shane Drohan

One more small deadline day deal. This is just a salary dump for me. Davis I demoted to minors and by saving his salary now, I can make other others. Got some buyouts to post and use current cap space to pay.

I would like to get draft order up asap (ideally before end of this week) but to do so I think it is fair to 1st run by how I am planning to do it for this year, as well as future years if this full poll passes. Given we changed from 10 teams making playoffs down to 8 (for at least 1st season) and we use a lottery % for draft, we have to take into account 2 additional non playoff teams when doing lottery. This was simply overlooked at time of adjusting playoff format.

So, here is 2021 draft lottery proposal with % of getting 1st overall:

16th Place Team : 30%  (:MON-NHL: Montreal)
15th Place Team: 25%  (:ANA: Anaheim)
14th Place Team: 20%  (:VGK: Las Vegas)
13th Place Team: 10%   (:BOS-NHL: Boston)
12th Place Team: 6%   (:NYR: New York)
11th Place Team: 4%  (:SJ: San Jose)
10th Place Team: 3%  (:VAN: Vancouver)
9th Place Team: 2%  (:EDM: Edmonton)

8th Place Team: :TBL: Tampa will have 9th overall pick
7th Place Team: :CAR-NHL: Carolina will have 10th overall pick
6th Place Team: :PIT-NHL: Pittsburgh will have 11th overall pick
5th Place Team: :COL-NHL: Colorado will have 12th overall pick
4th Place Team: :MIN-NHL: Minnesota will have 13th overall pick
3rd Place Team: :TOR-NHL: Toronto will have 14th overall pick
2nd Place Team: :DET-NHL: Detroit will have 15th overall pick
1st Place Team: :NAS: Nashville will have 16th overall pick

For anyone seeing this before I just updated: Fixed 8 to 5 seeds showing incorrectly reversed originally

Notes:

1. Specific team seeds based on last season finish associated with % in brackets, but once I randomize true order will be know and then all traded picks will be applied as well.

2. Existing format on lottery is here where it is only 6 teams: https://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=371698.0

3. In the proposal, picks 9-16 are still based on playoff finish/regular season standing and aside from applying trades they are not going to change, only 1-8 might.

4. I considered various other options, but ultimately keeping % unchanged for seeds 16/15/14 seemed like way to go and therefore the adjustment is scaled across seeds 13-9.

I would also like to make 8 teams making playoffs permeate if there is support. Even with a full season worth of games I am thinking 50% making playoffs is way to go and will be better for league health

Original playoff rules are here (with 10 teams making it): https://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=371706.0

2020-21 playoff adjustment is here (with 8 teams making): https://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=376169.0

Voting yes to both means you are in favor of 8 teams and proposed lottery % format starting this year. Any questions or any other vote would appreciate a comment and we can get a health discussion going if needed.

ProFSL Dynasty Hockey: Completed Trades / Sharks/Leafs Trade
« on: July 28, 2021, 04:15:07 PM »
Sharks trade:

D Brandon Carlo, $3.6m (2022-2023) - Sharks resign him on 2 year deal based on 74th Dman 19-20 season.
:SJ: pays 1.8m 2021-22 season only

G Martin Jones, $5.8m (2023-2024)
:SJ: Pays 2.9m 2021-22 season only

D Brock Faber, $0.8m (R)

Leafs trade:

C/RW Matt Duchene, $8.0m (2025-2026)

While I like Duchene and think he bounces back, moving him this offseason was always a strong possibility given my cap situation. His contract makes it tough to get great value back but think this package makes sense and opens up some cap for other moves. While I'm not huge on taking Jones, at 50% paid this year he is reasonable so I'll take a shot he can be serviceable even as backup with Philly now or look to flip him elsewhere later. Carlo was much better 2 years ago and still young so don't mind bring him back and also paid helps. Faber also has some intriguing potential.
