Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Lightning & Blues Trade
« on: September 20, 2014, 02:52:18 PM »
:TBL: sends:
G Kevin Poulin $3.4m (2012-2015)
D Frank Corrado $0.6m (2014-2016)
:TBL: 1st rd pick

:STL-NHL: sends:
RW Scottie Upshaw $0.4m (2013-2015)
:STL-NHL: 3rd rd pick (2015)

Tampa does this deal to gain $3.6m in cap and a serviceable RW in Upshall who is a proven commodity at a thin position. It was tough to move my 1st rd pick, but I am betting that it will not be a premium pick as we hope that Lightning strikes the playoffs..the 3rd rounder in return also helps to cushion the blow.

Upshaw is on a sweet deal, & provides us the kind of depth, scoring we needed to help us compete for almost no $$$, allowing us to call up some excellent forwards as well. It was a mistake grabbing Poulin & Corrado in hindsight due to subsequent trades & this deal opens up the cap & roster spots needed to correct those mistakes while also providing a decent RW.

Thanks Ripper for the pro talks & good luck in the Loo. :toth:

:TBL: sends
1st rd pick :TBL:

:NYI: sends
G - Kevin Poulin, $3.4m (2012-2015)
G - Anthony Stolarz (2012: 2/45 - 0 Games)
D - Dillon Heatherington (2013: 2/50 - 0 Games)

:TBL: Had its draft when we traded for JVR, Nichushkin, Calvert, & Forsberg, we are plumb ripe with diaper dandies, like Stamkos, Hedman, Wennberg, Campbell, you get the point ;)

We knew all along we prefer Stolarz to Madsen in the Philly farm, and Poulin may lose the backup job, but he is young and talented, and will be very cheap to resign if he stays in the AHL, but also worth having if he is the new backup.

The #6 pick is just one guy, most likely a solid winger, but who knows. I got wingers. I need these guys.

This is my last deal for awhile. I need sleep.
Thanks Johnny! Enjoy the draft and good luck mate!

Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Lightning & Islanders trade
« on: August 12, 2014, 02:36:40 AM »
:TBL: sends
D - Cody Franson, $2.7m (2012-2015)
G - Oscar Dansk (2012: 2/31 - 0 Games)
G - Merrick Madsen (2103: 6/162 - 0 Games)

:NYI: sends
RW Valeri Nichushkin, $2.0m (2013-2016-EL)

Maybe it becomes clearer with 3 trades now posted on the board, how the three tie into a larger scheme. Maybe it doesnt? In any case as a stand alone trade this is a hefty haul for Nichushkin, but my view is that we are super deep on the blue line, and young NHL RW talent on a good deal is a scarce commodity.

With Campbell we feel we keep the best of our young Goalie crop  and Franson is due a nice pay raise, all in all we need this trade and the others to go thru and ARE EXTREMELY PLEASED to add Forsberg, Nichushkin, to our talented and suddenly young :TBL:

Thanks for the talks Johnny B Good :toast:

Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Lightning & Ducks Trade
« on: August 12, 2014, 12:53:01 AM »
:TBL: sends

LW - Matt Puempel (2011: 1/24 - 0 Games)
Eric Nystrom, $1.5m (2014-2017)

:ANA: sends
C/RW - Filip Forsberg (2012: 1/11 - 13 Games) [:TBL: will immediately place on NHL roster with applicable contract if trade is approved]

:TBL: Gives up a young good LW prospect & serviceable LW vet in Nystrom who we were looking to move, to hopefully fill a void at RW for the long term. If Forsberg moves to fulltime C, he is welcomed there as well. We like anyone named Forsberg, even grandma Forsberg is welcome at the Thunderdome.

Thanks for great negotiations HF. :toth:
