Just to throw this out there, Mauer was injured when he was traded for Belt and Ian Stewart. Plus the amount of offers that I received for Belt when he was in Cincy were just plain horrible. If I had accepted one of those out of need, would it have been vetoed - those offers came from some of our most vocal members. Just saying. I might still have the offers in my PM inbox if anyone wants to see them.

dan dont tease me that would be amazing! im just glad at least someone else see's my point of view

Imo, based on the amount of owner turnover and team hopping, we risk becoming a league with 5-6 great teams and a lot of pretenders if we don't extend the TC some latitude.  Take a good look at the NL Central, and you'll see my point.

i understand that im new and my opinion isnt looked at as important or knowledgable but i pride myself in researching things most times and knowing most things in league im in. with that said all i want is for them to be consistent. yes the job they have is hard but the rocks in this deal would fill voids they had for the run this year and the yanks get something back for giving up two guys who can start. im so confused

I will have to add another disapproved vote. I find nothing wrong with getting players as rentals but level of rental should determine level of prospects and heinske and Blackburn are not top level prospect level quality. Have to ask yourself if you have to defend a trade with 5 other responses is key isn't even deal. TC isn't here to screw a team but to help all teams avoid deals that can hurt especially when involves team who I'm sure hasn't had chance to see full effect of what players in scoring and dollar amounts have best value.

ok the TC know what they are doing that is why they are on there and i am not on the TC and i dont think this is that good of a trade for the rockies because belt is a high prospect and hinske, blackburn, are lower level rentals if it was higher rentals it would be better

I do this to get saunders who i really like and think he will be a good player. Plus i get hinske who is doing good and will fill ortiz's spot. As a red sox fan ortiz will be missed.

I guess it is all in the timing then?

He was valuable enough to get traded for a proven commodity in big papi, but heaven forbid... not a prospect! (sarcasm)

I'm going to have to agree with Reid here, the Reds aren't trading with anyone either. Trades have now become a public forum for everyone's opinion on other teams players, and GMs moves. Where was everyone when Bridgestone dropped Jenrry Mejia, after Mejia being a huge part in him trading Soto to the Brewers? Or when the Lazydude and the Cutter built the Rockies, and set two franchises back?

I know I have thrown my opinion around in the past, but I think from this moment forward transaction should only be for the teams involved and the TC. I also think the way we view trades might need to be reviewed. In the past once a GM gave the reason he did it, and it made sense the trade was passed. Now we are just keeping people from building their teams the way they want to.

ok that was a bad trade but at the point ortiz was only doing 3 points better than hinske and saunders wasn't in AAA

I disagree with this.  If Col was an experienced GM, I believe there is more allowed in building the team as he would want.  The fact is that he has done nothing to give this league any confidence that he is fully aware of all of the rules and the scoring (please see the questions on edr and extensions after the trade).

I believe the fact that he is a new GM given a good team is being lost in the opinions.

I believe the fact that he is a new GM given a good team is being lost in the opinions.

So if he was around for 3 months he could trade Jay Bruce for 5 or 6 fringe prospects like Bridgestone did, or Lazydude did, or The Cutter did? I fail to see the rationale behind your statement. He has watched the scoring for two weeks and he needs pitching, he said so on his trade block. Plus we have guys who have been here since last season that don't understand the EDR and re-signing process.

So if I was to have taken an offer I was given in the off-season for Belt, say umm, oh who was it? Oh yeah Tommy Hunter. If I chose to except the offer, no one would have stopped it? Should I continue posting crap offers that have been sent to me that the people that sent to me thought were good, and were here long enough to know the value of what they were offering and what I would have been accepting?

My point being, is it is fine when someone walks away with John Smoltz for Doyle Alexander, or Josh Hamilton for Edinson Volquez, but when someone else attempts to do it the roof caves in. We can't put plastic wrap on everyone's players. We can't baby proof every GM office.

He said it in his own words why he was doing it.
