Angels trade:
OF Duggar, Steven, $0.5m (P-n/a)
Giants trade:
CI-MI Flores, Wilmer, $0.5m (P-2017)
X-CI-MI Flores, Wilmer, Cash Exchange, $0.5m in 2017
SP De La Rosa, Jorge, $2.5m (2018)
X-SP De La Rosa, Jorge, Cash Exchange, $2.5m in 2017
Although Wilmer Flores is a reliable CI, he is not an integral part of the FGM Giants roster. That said, Steve Duggar, although injured earlier in the year, is a young OF who has shown every indication that he could be a very productive player for the San Francisco Giants as early as 2018. Unfortunately, the Giants are a MLB team with aging OFs who are slipping (one of whom is on my current roster).
Realistically, the Giants are barely hanging onto a Wild Card berth, and have consistently lost to the NL teams with better records. So, even the most optimistic person would say, the Giants chances of advancing do not hinge on the production of the two players that are being traded away. However, with an eye on the future, Steve Duggar offers a greater potential to build on and is worth the risk.
This trade fills a need for both teams. Angels need to confirm.
