MI Tejeda, Ruben, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Trying to hold onto the AL West.  With Piniero getting GBs and pitching pretty well this year, the A's would like his services to return.    We give up two solid young prospects that have struggled at the major league level, but both young guys have showed to be good with the bat in the minors.  Santiago is insurance.

Reds confirm. After losing to the Yanks mainly because of age (Vlad, Rolen, and Glaus did nothing - and because the real life Royals slow pitched Mark Texiera) it is time to reload for next year. I get two very promising young players for guys with expiring contracts. Plus guys that might help me save face for the rest of the year if they begin to show some of the talent that they showed in the minors.
