Few days back I came across Tampa with Morneau on team page for 9.5 traced it back to a deal on may 16 with NY
in its latest trade sends

C Martinez, Victor, $12.5m (2013)
X-C Martinez, Victor, Cash Exchange on Contract through 2012, $-7.5m in 2012
TO FOR
MI Giavotella, Johnny, $0.5m (P-n/a)
MI DeJesus, Ivan, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI Morneau, Justin, $13.5m (2013)
will pay $9.5 in 2012 to keep the money even.

does this as it helps us to fielding a lineup.
We finally got there Mike!!!!

Need to know if that money still follows Morneau?

As far as I can tell, the 9.5m never went to the Yanks. Subsequently, the Yanks traded him to the Red Sox for Konerko, but the Red Sox never received the 9.5m cash either.

Tampa Bay Paid 9.5M on Morneau when He was traded to the Yankees. When the Yankees traded him to the Red Sox they paid 10M in the deal to Boston to keep salaries even but 9.5M was already being covered by the Rays so they only paid 0.5M on Morneau. If you look on the Yankees Roster you will see a cash exchange on contract for morneau of 0.5M in 2012. The only thing missing is the Cash exchange of 9.5M plus the Cash exchange of 0.5M on boston's roster.
