Nationals/Dodgers trade 5/17/26 11:36A

[DaveW]

Nationals trade:

Hector Rodriguez OF CIN prospect
LuJames Groover CI ARI prospect
Keyner Martinez SP SFG prospect

Dodgers trade:

Jackson Merrill OF SDP 4.0MM 2030
LAD covers Merrill's 2026 salary only

Nationals approve.  I need a stronger OF, and I've always liked Merrill even though he's off to a terrible start this season.  I'm hoping that Merrill can be the in-season addition that can put me over the top.  Thanks and good luck Rick @BHows !

I drafted Merrill @ 2-22 in 2021 so I really didn't start out to trade him but I'm leaving a lot of OF points on the table. That makes someone expendable and I like the prospects I'm getting in return
It took a little while but we got it done. Thanks Dave for that talks!
