Essentially, the Cubs get younger at CI, and then receive a replacement reliever plus solid mid-round picks for Thornton.

I accept this new offer.  Oakland and Cincy are right that I wasn't getting the right compensation.  Brackman and Robertson, whom I acquired from the Yankees in the Fukudome deal may be keys to my pitching in the future.  Gray is a throw-in replacement.  Walker adds to the prospect mix at CI/C (he could still play catcher for the Bucs in the future).  The picks are pretty good as well.
