Reds/ Tigers trade

[Dan Wood]

The pick was needed to get the deal done. I wanted Snider, and that was what I was willing to pay. I simply wrote that I had no interest in being in the draft meaning that the pick wasn't of great value to me. Therefore giving it up was no great shakes. In my eyes I didn't give up that much value. In Damon and Cahill yes, they are very useful players but Damon is old, and wasn't going to be re-signed next year. At 11.5 mil, Cordero is extremely over priced, given what closers went for during free agency. He also, at 35 is no spring chicken. I traded for what I consider an uber-prospect in Travis Snider. Who must be something of value since I was already asked for his services twice since this trade went down. And I couldn't give Cordero away, Damon never garnered much interest I am assuming since he was sitting on Jake's trade block for about a month. And Cahill I will miss.

Sounds good enough to me, then.  If both sides see the pieces as necessary, and they both find it fair, I have no objections to it.  If the TC requires a RC member to vote, then I will do so.

[Dan Wood]

Our other two members of the TC have gone AWOL

[lp815]

Oh, I was unaware of this.  What's the status on 'em Colb?  Are RC members actively voting on trades?  Sorry if I missed this somewhere.

[rcankosy]

As a RC member, I also approve of this trade.

Jon hasn't been around for a while, and Daniel hasn't been on as much as he normally is. Personally I think we need one more TC member, or replace a current one. Rick is the most consistent, and up until this week Daniel has been very good. I would like to nominate the A's GM, or Kris, since they are both on daily, and have a decent to great knowledge of all thing baseball. IMHO, during FA, having trades blocking up the board isn't good for the flow of things.
