Twins - Giants trade

[Flash]

Twins trade:
MI Simmons, Andrelton, $4m (2018)
X-MI Simmons, Andrelton, Cash Exchanged in 2015, $2.0m
OF Coghlan, Chris, $1.5m (2015)

Giants trade:
CI-MI-OF Holt, Brock, $0.5m (2015)
SP Elias, Roenis, $0.5m (P-2017)
MI Ahmed, Nick, $0.5m (P-n/a)

This trade fills a real need at MI for the Giants.  Hopefully Simmons will rebound and fulfill the upside he has shown in the past.  Coghlan fills a need in the OF.  With Happ going to the Mariners, Elias, although a steady SP, might be the odd man out.  Simmons is, of course an upgrade over Ahmed.

Twins gets the players he wants and the Giants do too.  A win-win for both teams.

Twins need to confirm.

With Reyes, Segura and Russell on our roster we felt comfortable in moving Simmons.
Holt provides us flexibility at positions where we are lacking depth.
Elias provides us some more help with a pitching staff that is lacking in quality.
Ahmed is an extra body to just give us more depth.
