The system is what it is right now, but I just want to throw this in there right now:  As far as THIS year goes, I think the order shouldn't be the team's records from last year, but the order in which we pick in the amateur draft.  That makes a lot more sense to me for this particular year. ..... Of course after this year is over, it would go back to using the record.

That wouldn't be all that bad except the Yankees would have the 5th best chance.  That is the only problem with that.

But I think we could set it after a set amount of acquisitions that some other teams get a chance.

Personally, I think the rule as it currently stands is a little fishy, but it is what it is for now.  I think that it should be something like:

Reverse standings is awarded the player they claim, but after they make their claim, the go to the back of the line.
Then you can reset the waiver order back to reverse standings every month or so.

It doesn't really matter to me anyhow.  I'm not sure how they actually do it in real life either.

I like that idea!

The process actually follows MLB pretty closely.  The main difference is that waivers are revocable in MLB, meaning a team retains claim to the player until the 48 hours expires and if a team puts in a claim, can attempt to make a trade with the claiming team.  The other difference is all of the teams in the same league have priority over those in the opposite league.

This same thing happened in MLB this year when the Pirates claimed Brandon Wood and then 5 days later claimed Xavier Paul.

I suppose I do like the current MLB way now the more that I think about it.  It makes sense.

Its not like any team is going to drop someone that is valuable..  (in theory)

Yes you are correct
Irrevocable Outright Waivers
A team that wishes to remove a player from the 40-man roster and place him in the minor
league system first needs to place him on irrevocable outright waivers. The team may not pull
him back if another team claims the player. Other organizations have 48 hours to make a claim.

You know this discussion is really good.  I believe this is what Kenny intended when he created this league.  He wanted this to be the best. I dont know if we can change the rules for future years but this is the type of discussions I am assuming he was looking for to help form this league.

Processed at Transactions #289-307.

The intent of the rules was 1. to mirror MLB as closely as possibly and 2. to maintain competitiveness. Another thing to keep in mind is that when people selected teams, they selected them with the current set of rules in mind. I am hesitant about changing rules mid-stream.

With that being said, I am open to change if it meets the 2 intents mentioned above. Feel free to continue this discussion on the main forum.
