Spurs/Magic trade
« on: August 20, 2021, 06:02:15 PM »
Spurs trade:
- Covington $12.6m 2022
- Spurs first round 2022
- Spurs first round 2023
- Spurs second round 2023
- Yam Madar $0.5m 2023 (G-league)
- Simi Shi ttu $0.5m 2022 (G-league).

For
- Vucevic fully paid 2022 and half 2023
- Gordon $17.3m 2022 ($11.6m paid).

Spurs want to strengthen their frontcourt. Covington still offers strong fantasy value and we are not happy of losing most of our picks but we think this deal and in particular Vucevic can improve our team

Unfortunately this deal is null and void. I would let it go through if Orlando had accepted the deal but never did and he emailed me last night saying he was stepping down.

The deal was accepted by Magic through private message on Profsl and after several days of negotiations. Spurs also already finalized other two deals related to this one, Vassell with Kings and another one entirely dependant on this trade (we were just waiting the formal approval of Magic before posting it). So, we cannot accept the trade is cancelled just because the counterparty decided to step down in the period between private and formal approval.
To preserve the principles of fair play and correctness of this league, I would kindly ask to the League Manager to please send a message to the Magic manager to request confirmation of his private approval of this trade. If the League manager and the other voting members of the League agree with us that the trade is honest and completely fair, we are sure it is worth of approval even if the Magic manager stepped down just before formally approving it.
Sorry we invested 10 days working on this deal and other related trades, so we cannot let this pass without making our case

:DAL-NBA: opinion on this trade is that i aggree for this trade to be "null and void". Orlando's approval must be posted here. To be fair to other trades. And also if there are screenshots of approval in private message, still i wont agree on that. Because my main consideration in accepting trades is the posting of confirmation here on the thread. And seeing the day this trade is posted Orlando has alteast a day or maybe 2 days to confirm this before he resign.

Going to league wide majority rules on this.

2 are currently against it with me and :DAL-NBA:

Rest of league needs to post their vote on whether it is allowed or not. :SA: not allowed a vote due to being involved in trade. Majority rules will decide it.

Trade should be null and void.  The GM should have accepted before deciding to back out of the league, however he did not and left the other GM hanging.  It sucks for the Spurs, but there's no GM to confirm the trade now that he quit.

It's a solid trade. Stepping down without confirming a trade speaks poorly of the manager that left. That's the manager that should be punished. The Spurs are a rival and this trade certainly strengthens them, but I cannot in good conscious veto this deal.

Punishing the Spurs after all these negotiations and having a deal in place when the other manager fails in his duties is NCAA level punishment logic. The NCAA loves to punish players, teams, coaches, etc. for the sins of others. A veto here is just as heinous. The party that failed to fulfill their duty should be punished, not the team that negotiated in good faith and did everything right.

I just wanted to get to the SB and figured at that point anything can happen and lucky for me, my boys had enough left to take out BAB.
