Are players signed as replacements for a player placed on LTIR eligible to be released for free? I don't see this anywhere in the rules so just want to clarify it for future knowledge. I think you had signed Bonino to a two year $1.5m deal as part of the Tarasenko LTIR. Seems weird that you would get to drop that player for no cap hit. The rules just state you need to make your roster cap compliant to activate the player from LTIR.
Interesting point. Was not thinking on these lines, but you are right it is not the most clear now that I reread it:
- Once your LTIR player is activated, your team must become cap and roster compliant by dropping players to:
Get at or under cap, and at or under the 30-player roster limitHowever to my knowledge other leagues that allow LTIR replacements the replacement player(s) can be dropped for free or you can convert to normal contract if you have the cap space. This is what I was going with here. Also the 30 is actually 32.
If there is no issue, I think I'd like to change to the following to be more clear and do think this makes sense:
- Once your LTIR player is activated, your team must become cap and roster compliant by dropping players to:
Get at or under cap, and at or under the 32-player roster limit. A payer who is signed as LTIR replacement is eligible to be dropped for free should GM not want to convert to full contract. Regular buyout and all other rules apply to non replacement playersAlso, I actually did a 1 year 3m contract on Bonino originally as I didn't think I would really care for keeping him once Tarasenko comes back and was still content releasing (original thinking being he is an easy free drop upon Tarasenko returning). Only rebid since same time I got Tarasenko back happen to get Duchene out and not too much else I like in FA right now.
