Angels approve.

It's hard giving up so many high upside prospects but the Angels are in win now mode and Betts gives some insurance against having Rusney Castillo as well. Mainly though it's about the fact I have always been a huge Betts fan and think he will have a great career. Thanks to :chw: for keeping the negotiations alive

I have vote to  this for the following reasons

1) The White Sox roster is already illegal under the rule requiring 10 players to be actively scoring points.  The 40man has 4, the organization has 6.  Draft picks will be lost because of this.
2) Betts is scoring better than 50% of CHWs points thus far.
3) The return to me is very iffy, Nick Williams is the only top 10 organizational player. Forbes and Segovia are huge risks and the other two are even greater.
4) I just don't think the White Sox have any need to further tear down the team to rebuild, a team still has to be fielded and again this goes the wrong direction.

We confirm the deal and are quite enthusiastic receiving 5 prospects for Betts.
If he had remained a MI instead of OFer, probably wouldn't have made the deal.
I understand Jss0062 questioning the deal, but it's just like the real life re-builders.
Just think, a Royals/Pirates World Series? Those re-builders may finally get to the pinnacle!
It may take 3-6 years, but we have a plan!

Segovia/Marquina are one of a million above average players in the rookie leagues, can be found on the waivers even in a league this deep.

Gomez is a bit higher level than them due to being a big bonus IFA, but high risk and at this point should not be a main piece for any major deal.

That leaves Williams/Forbes to make up the majority value for Betts. I'm a Rangers fan who really wants to believe in both of them but I can't imagine many scenarios where they even get to half the value of Betts.

I understand White Sox are rebuilding, but Betts is the type of player a rebuilding team needs not more prospects. Even if you think it'll be 3-4 years until you compete Betts will still be around for that team it's not like he's in the decline phase of his career.

All of this is before accounting for the lost draft picks for making your roster even more illegal, I just can't imagine the White Sox coming ahead in any scenario.
