Also, the "you cannot give extensions to experienced players in your minor league team" will still apply to these players. And you cannot offer a 2 way deal on an extension. This will keep these players cycling on a semi-regular basis.
Yes this will still apply but since they are on 2 way contracts they can be called up and signed to a contract easily avoiding the minors signing contract rule. Also 2 way contracts can be put on extensions as long as the player has not reached 40 games played yet, so follow the extensions/draft amounts then apply a 2 way contract.
I think you missed my previous post... I was talking about signing free agents to 2 way deals, not minor leaguers. This would help with the concern people have with losing their IR replacements when they try to call the player up/send him down AND putting a price to the protection.
Yes sorry I missed that post.Ya but you do not have to call people up from your minors either because you could also sign someone in free agency to cover then release them once your player is coming back from injury. People have depth in the minor leagues like for me Cammy and say CHI Iginla that they could call up during this time and when they are sent down because a team can't afford them anyway and most teams can't afford to pick them up so they would go down. If Purcell is having a career year and someone is scared to lose him by sending him down, you could send down a different player to clear room. Also now with the rule of 2 way contracts people will be able to bring up young guys like the do in the NHL then send them down once the injured player is returning.
So in your example (with Cammy), if Fisher gets injured, you can call up Cammy despite the fact that his contract will put you over budget?I honestly like the idea of giving free agents two way contracts as long as we establish the fact that you cannot attach or keep a two way contract with a player's extension. It gives a team the extra protection that they will like when it comes to sending players down/bringing up players without running into cap problems.
