I'd hate to veto a trade, but this one qualifies, unfortunately. Even ignoring lavarnway who is not likely to see any time with BOS this year, this trade has the same team getting the salary advantage and its not close (8.8 over 3 years vs arbitration years), the youth advantage and its not close (30vs24), the positional scarcity advantage and its not close (primary DH but 1B eligible vs SS) and the points advantage (560vs500 in Lind's first above replacement year since 2009). So I don't want to veto in this league, but for this trade, unfortunately:

I have been withholding judgement waiting for BOS to confirm and give his reason for trade but it has been a while so I will just have to  :veto:

1. Simmons put up more fantasy points than Lind last year
2. Simmons plays a more premium, hard to staff defensive position
3.Simmons is significantly cheaper than Lind
4.Simmons is younger and under contract for longer than Lind
5.that doesn't even take into account Lavarnway as a toss in.

All that said, as lopsided as this seems if BOS confirms and makes a logical argument as to why he is making the trade (even if I don't agree with it), I will change my vote

We should probably add a rule that nullifies any posted trade that isn't accepted within a certain period of time.  You can't have trades sitting there for days without even being accepted.  Maybe Boston hasn't accepted yet because he sees everyone in the league thinks this trade is horrible for him.  He's basically getting a free trade analysis before he's even accepting the deal.

I think within 24 hours would be good.  You can't expect trade evaluators to hold their tongues for any longer than that.

Agreed.  The rule book needs a good once over to have less area for interpretation.

To be fair, we posted this trade a week or so ago and Boston confirmed.  Chris suspended all trades until rosters were available, so I reposted it with the salary info.  I can't find the old post, it's not in invalid transactions.  Boston knew the salaries of all involved players though we didn't include them in the last posting.

You are correct however he did not give an explanation or reasoning behind the trade then either. That is my issue. I don't think you are making up a trade, I believe at one point this trade was agreed upon between the two you. I also believe this was special circumstances with trades being suspended due to a lack of access to spreadsheets with commish change.

However, with a trade this seemingly lopsided, an explanation is needed in order to pass.

Not that that really matters right now.  The deal is going to be vetoed.  We need to decide how things will be handled in the future though.

To be truthful, I didn't fully understand the scoring system before I made this trade. After all the previous comments, this is obvious not a favorable deal for me, therefore I cannot confirm it. I am still interested in Lind, however, and I'll continue talks with ThePetis. And FYI, I have not be patrolling this thread for the past three days to get advice, I've been busy and the first time I saw it was this morning. I'm not trying to be cheap here because I already agreed on this deal with ThePetis, but with minuscule knowledge of the scoring system.

In any normal scoring system, this trade wouldn't be terrible.
