This trade was made to give the Marlins some strength off of the bench.  Young looks to be a backup infielder/outfielder for the Rockies this year and it is assumed will be getting his playing in spot starts after the aquisition of Marco Scutaro. The feeling is that even though he wont see regular playing time he will still provide some needed depth to the Marlins squad.  In exchange the Rockies are receiving two players that right now look to be AAAA type players but do have some potential in the future with the White Sox and Marlins organizations.

For the Rockies I did not see Eric Young being part of the rotation at any time. Although I do not feel like we are in a rebuilding mode the organization is dreadfully thin at C and weak in the middle infield. This move adds some depth and gives me a couple guy who may some day contribute. Additionally....I found it almost impossible to not acquire a dude named Osvaldo when given the opportunity.
