This deal helps a with a few small issues, my 40 man is full so this will help free up some spots. LeMahieu was very helpful in my playoff push last season but I have enough position flexibility in other spots to make up for losing him. Kaprielian is the one who really hurts, with the A's likely trading away their front starters Kap may be 1 or 2 in the rotation. I've had Beede for years and hope he put its together. Bello was a great pick up a few years back but with some other high level pitching I've developed he could be included here. Gausman let's me consolidate some of my pitching into one position and while Hoskins isn't the greatest 1B he gives me an heir to Votto who will eventually, one day, turn into a pumpkin or whatever the Canadian equivalent is.

What catches my eye here and really makes me excited is the versatility of Ryan Weathers in that he can be any number of things for the Padres at a moments notice pitching-wise and is still young enough he may one day find himself holding down one of the rotation spots in SD. Kaprelian was a surprise here as the A's tend to be doing some house cleaning, but then they are keeping Kaprelian around, meaning the see his stuff playing up in their future plans. The addition of LeMahieu gives me flexibility day to day of how I can play my infielders most effectively. Tyler Beede is a flier type SP who the club will see what he offers the team. Finally I admit I had no clue who Brayan Bello was until I recently looked him up and was pretty impressed by the umbers he's putting up in the Minors. Hopefully he'll be up to help this club sooner than later. We went through many vacations trying to find a fit, and in the end we decided to blow the deal up and that's what we did.
