Since Tyler Johnson was IR replacement for Gardiner, I don't think we should allow a LTIR replacement to be used for another LTIR replacement as it gets too messy (even though Johnson is legal to still go on IR).
To account for this option 1 is what I assigned on sheet currently but you can pick another if you prefer and I have no issue making update:1. Johnson has been removed as LTIR replacement for Gardner and converted to a full NHL contract - C Tyler Johnson, $1.0m (2022-2023). As a regular contract Johnson then becomes eligible to go to LTIR and Maroon assigned as his replacement.
2. You are welcome to release Johnson at no cap hit since he was originally replacement signee, then Pat Maroon becomes a regular 1 year contract, with 900k meaning you can still drop for free anytime.
3. I would also have no issue if you keep Johnson as IR replacement for Gardner then assign Johnson as a a regular IR separately (not LTIR). This opens roster spot but as in case number 2 above, Maroon is still going to be a regular 1 year contract. Assuming Gardner comes back before Johnson you would then need to make decision on him at this time.
