New York receives:
Clayton Kershaw 12(2019)
St. Louis receives:
Mike Napoli 7.5(2019)
Hishashi Iwakuma 5.5(2019)
Kris Medlen 3(2019)

Bubba Thompson .5(P-n/a) (#10 Texas prospect but climbing. 20/20 upside with .280+ avg potential)
This is the same exact deal but I've tried to break it down in two separate deals that hopefully make it easier to see. In the top trade the value of Dee Gordon and Dexter Fowler plus prospect Mike Sani are worth more than the less than desirable value of the other players. But I am also taking an overpaid (by league stardards) relief pitcher to take back some of the money I am.sending. We can all go into free agency and find a reliever who will get $4m-$5m less than Chapman and still score as many points.
As for the second trade, Clayton Kershaw is a future hall of famer, yes, but he is not the Clayton Kershaw of 3-4 years ago . In the past 5 seasons he has missed 34 starts due to various injures, or an average of almost 7 per season). He is on the wrong side of 30 so these issues are not going away. I am sending him 4 top prospects, as explained above, and $23m in dead cap space that all expires this season. However, he is really only taking on $11m in dead because he is subtracting the $12m that is being paid to Kershaw.
I know that some of you don't agree with the trade because you might not make it, but this trade is more than fair in the eyes of the two GM's making it, it does not break any rules, and it is not an obvious throw away trade by either GM because they are mad or quitting or whatever. It was done in good faith and should stand (please).
