P - Bryan Morris AA

This is basically a salary dump on our side.  Since we don't plan on competing this year (or the next), J. Bay is expendable.  I'm certain Bay can be put to use in Pittsburgh.  We are also looking forward to spend the money we would have given Bay on international free agents.

Bryan Morris is an interesting little prospect.  He's a decent reliever who is relatively close to the majors.  He might end up as a middle reliever, but might also end up as a saves/holds producer.  Only time will tell.

This is as close to a mulligan as you'll ever see in sports trades. In 2008, Bryan Morris was the prized prospect that was part of the 3 way trade that sent him to Pittsburgh and Jason Bay out of town. Now, we're bringing Bay back and shipping Morris out.

We were looking for a veteran addition to the lineup, who would be able to get regular playing time this year. Bay has a potential for a resurgence this year... we'll see. Didn't give up too much in Morris; the only question would be if it was worth taking on the salary. I think it is, considering the lack of depth in this year's outfield free agency class.
