Title: Free Agency
Post by: yahoolando on August 29, 2013, 08:41:20 PM
Just a note that the rule book is incorrect with the 24 hour rule for Free Agency.  It is 48 hours and has been all year.

I will have to update the rules since I have taken over.

Question.  Bazinga has 18 million in free agent bids but only 16 million in salary cap space.  What is the rule on this?  Outbidding your cap space?

He is only winning 1 bid though, so it's fine at this point.

Yes but I wouldn't have had to outbid him if he hadn't been able to go over his limit.  Just clarifying, it's a tactic that can be used if we're going to allow someone to bid over their limit.

Question though, how does the free agency bidding conclude?  Does it automatically stop 48 hours from the initial posting or 48 hours after the last bid is placed?

If you catch someone bidding over their allotted funds let me know and I will freeze them.  I can't police it all and would hope there was some sportsmanship.  Right now everyone understands I hope.

In regards to winning bids, you must hold the winning bid for 48 hours before you take the rights for the player.  So last bid must hold for 48 hours.

Make sense?

One more question, from what I understand the draft is open until the season is over.  A player subject to the 2012 MLB draft and undrafted in this league this season is still eligible to be drafted?  Is that correct?  If so, some of the players I just posted I'd rather just draft.  Can you clarify?

I guess the draft ends in February.  Never mind then.   I'll have to win them the hard way!

Sorry about that, guys, I don't realize how much cap space I had. I'll now retract my bid for everyone but Jeremy Sy.

Draft ended a long time ago!

What about international free agency?  Is that open from July to the next June?  Is 2013 international free agency still open for MLB signings in 2012?

Free Agency - All of it closes tomorrow at 10am MST.  The international signings of 2012 is still open until tomorrow and follows the same process as the other FAs.  The new system will be implemented next year.

So I can bid an unsigned international free agent with cap money until tomorrow and every succeeding bid must be twice the preceding bid?

no the rules are the same as now.....the double bid thing will start next year just for International players...disregard any of the new International Rules

Basically the bidding on 2012 International Signees is same as other FAs except you need to put a link to a reputable source for the info of the signing

But is open until tomorrow

Okay, one more question.  A 2012 unsigned international free agent in our league, signed by an MLB team in 2012, that goes the year without being signed in our league becomes a regular free gent in the next period or still an international free agent?

He would be a regular FA.
