Cubs do this as I dont have a 3rd baseman on the roster. 2 years ago I was runner up and my roster is at the time I need to push or retool. Cubs will be in a finical situation next season so this will help out. If the cubs struggle I will have assets to move to reacquire young talent with Harper/nola/betts and some other names.

Reds confirm. After the Angels deal fell through I checked in with a few teams and the Cubs put forth a deal that I was happy with. 5 Prospects that I rank highly will help with the rebuild and can contribute within the next 2-4 years where my window will be opening. Happy to absorb the 17M this year and 7M next year to facilitate this trade and the 5th Round pick doesn't hurt too much either.
