The Verlander trade/extension has just been a complete disaster for me, the propsect capital I gave up for Verlander is why I only had two guys available from my system this year. Pretty sure had 3 or 4 guys from the trade he called up already. I'm sure Verlander will be back next year, he's already talked about pitching another 2-3 years, so there's still a lot of value there, but that doesn't do me any good this year. And because he's hurt I have to find a replacement, and that replacement is costing me a ton of picks and a really nice prospect in Martinez. All for the privilege of getting the exact same contract in return for someone who probably will not be as productive next year lol. Disaster. will likely get to flip Verlander next season, eat salary, and get a nice return at the trade deadline. You win some, you lose some I suppose.

I traded some of my other top players for just prospects/picks and started to worry about tanking penalties for next season. So I decided it was better to take a chance on Verlander coming back and at least partially offsetting the loss of LeMahieu while adding some more later picks and 2 hitters that might provide depth for me next year than eat LeMahieu's salary for a package of just prospects and picks.
