Sorry for the delay in responding.  I saw this and at the time I was very busy and figured I'd put it off until I had more time to think about it, with such big names being traded.  After looking over it, I will approve.  These names are big but so are the payrolls behind them.  As a Sox fan I've been watching Hanley for a long time and I've been very discouraged by his performance the last 2 years.  I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he bounced back but on the other side I wouldn't be surprised if he depreciates even more, given his poor work ethic.  With the size of his contract I can't blame the Marlins GM for dealing him.  Nolasco is a very good pitcher, but is quite pricey as well.  I can't say this is what I'd want to get back for these two names but I don't see this as overly lopsided.  The Marlins are saving a lot of money and strengthening their draft position going forward.

Rosters are attached. Cells highlighted in red just means I haven't been able to find their salaries yet, so it's a safe bet to assume $400k. Cells highlighted in yellow mean they cannot be released without paying the entirety of the remainder of their contract.

Currently, Miami has approximately $63M committed for 2012 and Houston has approximately $72M committed for 2012. The cap is at $125M.

Unless I am missing something, Michael's vote should not count towards this trade as he is not on the PROFSL TC of any sport although he would make a fine addition. I am also on the AFB TC and I thought about this trade hard after I reread rules. As I have said before, I am not a fan at all of vetoing trades, but this one is an exception. Hanley is expensive, but thats the going rate for a SS when you have put up his type of numbers. Nolasco is around the 40ish best SP and he too will only get more expensive. Together however, they are worth more than a draft pick and a prospect. I use this philosophy when looking at trades especially in baseball. Prospects are great to own and great trade bait, but that's all they are is prospects. They could be colossal busts and the receiving team gets nothing in return. I feel like EJ and Michael said anyway, more quality players need to be sent the other way. I veto this trade.

I get the point to this deal, but believe more should be obtained by Fla.  Nolasco could easily net deshields, if not more.  Hamlet needs to obtain more.  Veto.

Exactly.  The Marlins have tons of cap space as is, so what's the real motivation here?

Trade has been evaluated for more than 48 hours, it is vetoed by consensus.  We do encourage the teams to go back to the table to negotiate.
