2017-2018 Team Salary Caps
« on: July 16, 2018, 05:49:58 PM »
Use this for a quick reference when deciding what team to draft- it is the onus on each GM to actually analysis the individual player salaries as they will be reflected on here only post draft.

You can see some teams will have to use their free drop and potentially a few buyouts/trades to get to the 110m cap limit while other teams have more flexibility but individual analysis is strongly encouraged to see overall player value per a team.

Team                                                    Team Salary                  Draft picks
Cleveland Cavaliers               $135,777,082                  25, 55

Los Angeles Lakers               $93,848,506                      10, 40
Indiana Pacers                       $90,081,320                      23, 50
Philadelphia 76ers               $89,638,648                      26, 56

Chicago Bulls                       $63,826,969                      7, 37

Updated numbers we are using are "active cap" https://www.spotrac.com/nba/cap/2017/

You can go to a specific team and go to the 2017-2018 salaries to see what each player is or also look at a multi year perspective for players with varied salaries.

Surprisingly it's impossible to find the list of picks original teams so best I could find was list showing which ones where traded. There is an error here as 29th pick should say via Raptors but I think rest should be accurate

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/2018-nba-draft-order-date-time-where-each-team-is-slated-pick-on-draft-night/

Keep in mind since we are running with 20 teams the actual picks you will have will change once we know which teams are not part of the league as it will be 40 total picks not 60.

not to be confuse where come exactly these cap figure, if it have to be the reference ?
for example for SAC, we have here  $95,627,528, but in SPOTRAC we have $90,980,474, including only $77,688,312 of roster cap.
Maybe it would be easier to use only the players cap hit, without dead money and cap holds ?
thanks

Good suggestion, it is defintiley easier to only use the players cap hit so I will update based on only that later today.

The current total cap numbers is coming from basketball-reference

This will be udpated in the coming days with the proper numbers along with which picks each team has in this year's draft (i.e. each team's original draft position as all picks are being reverted back despite any real life trades).

  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.

  • Daddy: Agreed. But most does not equal all.

  • Braves155: My issue in LIVE currently is having Strider/Alcantara/Giolito all on the long shelf, so I am more retooling than rebuilding
    Yesterday at 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
    Yesterday at 05:57:14 PM
  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen

  • Daddy: Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.
