Just a quick question

- Seeing a lot of single numbers as the bid - are we supposed to state the amount of years we are implying on the contract?

No years are given after winning the player. The number you post is the total contract amount

Is there a roster limit on free agency? I see one team currently has the winning bid on 16 players, lol. Do you have to have the roster space for all the players being won?

I have 7 spots. 9 of the players I am winning bids on can be dropped for free. So even if I won them all (unlikely), it does not matter because I could just drop those 9 (and not be able to re-sign them for 30 days which is irrelevant). I assumed it is ok as long as I have the cap space.

And my bids are legal regarding cap space too.

You’re allowed to have more bids than roster spots. You just can’t have more total salary in bids than cap space.

So if you place a bid of $20m, you need a minimum of $6.7m in cap space (3 years max you can do on a $20m bid)

Why is a 20m bid a three year max contract? The rules say a bid greater than 10m is allowed a 5 year contract. How do you determine what the contract length can be?

Given amount per year

<= $1m, 2 years
$1.1m - $5.4m, 3 years
$5.5m - $10m, 4 years
> $10m, 5 years (the overall limit)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but bids are total salary, while the quoted minimums below are per year.  So a 20M bid cannot be a 4 year contract as it would be 5M per year, which is below the minimum per year allowed for 4 years. It must be 3 years or fewer to have a per year bid above the minimum.

Those amounts are the PER YEAR allowed. We bid in total contract value. $20m is the total contract amount. Which means it’s a max 6.7m unless you raise final bid to $22m to get $5.5m over 4 years. You must bid over $50m to get a 5 year deal at $10m plus.

For next year, I feel like we should keep a max of 10-15 players on the market at one time  - when one player gets won another player get added and so on until free agency is competed. Everyone on the market at once is making my head spin lol

FA is always handled this way in leagues here. You limit it like that and FA will literally take forever.

It’s only this crazy because of the amount of really good players available. There won’t be another FA pool this deep.
