Trades are always about getting fair value. It is more often about doing what is best for your team. What you get back isn't always determined by fairness either.  You have to consider what the market was offering. Frankly, it didn't seem like there was much action at the deadline and he tried to drum it up. He had a lot of players he was trying to move that weren't going to do him any good sitting on his roster. So with that view, getting something is better than nothing, he did the best thing he could have for his team.

Same here, not sure what to make of this deal.  However, since I was asked to chime in with a vote, considering who is making the deal, and the obvious salary cap influences for all deals, I can find no reason to believe collusion here, and therefore have to give the benefit of the doubt to NYM here base on his personal projection of the prospects he received in return along with his view of his salary cap management

 :iatp:

thanks,
  frank-brewers

have we checked to make sure the two aren't dating?  that might change my mind about collusion here!!  lol  just kidding.  sorry.  I had too there.  lol  :toast:

The third veto does not count, you have to post a reason.  According to the rules

Valid point, let's strike that veto

Therefore that veto doesn't count.  If we are not following the rules all hell breaks loose.

According to the rules your approval and the ones that follow yours don't count because they were posted after the 72 hour voting period

By rule the trade did not pass.

Someone explain how this trade failed when the only two vetos had opposite teams 'winning' the trade?

Also, please confirm that this is the only trade in AFB history that is ignoring votes that came in at the 73rd hr.  The admin didn't request a vote on the matter until past 2300 last night, is it on the managers to solicit league input?

Even if SF's veto is struck there were not enough votes to pass as 70% approval wasn't met.  I requested vote to attempt to get this vote over the threshold as I voted for it thought it was fair enough considering salary dumps.  On the home page is a new topic soliciting interest in a trade committee.

:NYM: sends
SP-Bartolo Colon          $5.5M 2015
SP-Ubaldo Jimenez         $9M 2017
C-Geovany Soto          $4.4M 2017
2B-Justin Turner        $1M 2015, arb 2016
CF-Jarrod Dyson         $530k 2015, arb 2016
RP-Marc Rzepczynski     $1.375M 2015
cash $18.765m 2015

:MIA-MLB:  sends

SS-Kevin Frandsen      $900k 2015
OF-Jordan Schafer       $1.09m 2015, arb 2016
Grant Dayton       (PC)
Taylor Dugas        (PC)
Dean Green          (PC)
Victor Roache       (PC)
2016 Draft 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th & 10th round picks

:NYM: deal late contract impact players to a team with higher ambitions than ourselves in order to get Dean Green who we love and draft picks for our future. :MIA-MLB: to confirm.  Thanks Nicole for the easy trade talks.

Well, as usual, the same person vetoing every deal he's not involved in personally. What else is new.

Aren't 'vetos' designed to prevent collusion between teams OR to prevent a newbie from being taken advantage of?

I see neither happeneing here. All trades have a 'winner' or a 'loser' and that is usually not truly known for several seasons. Our personal perceptions of what fair value means are subjective to our own opinions and are therefore, prejudiced.

Fair value is not what we hould be voting on, for those reasons.

The Mets are simply trading present value for future value. Nothing wrong with that at all. Miami is willing to trade future value for present production. Nothing wrong with that either.

Anyone who claims to know what the actual value of this trade will be down the road, is fooling themselves.

I work nights and was unable to post my reply to the voting request till this morning. Which correctly is past the 72 hour window.

I'm not against trying to throw my weight around here but if it helps as being the only original owner in the league left,  it looks to me as the league has spoken and believes this trade should pass.

Yup. What snbts said. Too many trades are vetoed but it's our own fault as owners for not getting on here and voting to bring sanity to drown out some of the people who don't understand that voting is to prevent collusion not to prevent one side from winning over the other side. (Which is obviously very opinion based)

Mets shopped their players hard and took what they felt was best deal. Nothing wrong with that.
